Golf Course Turf Maintenance Worker

Wage Range $17.62-$23.00

SUMMARY

Under supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent performs a wide variety of unskilled maintenance and construction work on the City’s golf course.  This is a seasonal position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs unskilled manual labor as required, along with assisting in the performance of semi-skilled and skilled work
  • Works with hand tools necessary to maintain golf course, spray weeds, mows grass, irrigates
  • May operate weed cutters, riding mowers, dump truck and pick-up truck
  • May run hand power equipment including power mowers, compactors and chain saws; may paint miscellaneous equipment used in the operation of the department.

OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE: performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Knowledge and skill in the safe work practices in the operation of light equipment, power tools and in safe methods of performing maintenance and construction work.
  • Ability to talk and hear in person and by radio
  • Ability to see and read instructions, prepare reports and make repairs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and general public.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License. Minimum age 17. Will be required to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screen.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and six months of general labor experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Proficient in English. Other languages helpful.

  • Ability to perform moderate/heavy physical work and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally 100 pounds.

  • Possess hand/eye/foot coordination to operate equipment.
