Salary Range $16.31-$21.30 per hour

 

SUMMARY

This position is a big part in creating the City of Delta’s overall positive experience for the City residence and visitor by performs a wide variety of unskilled/skilled maintenance and construction work on city parks, cemetery and other public facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Manual labor as required for the day to day upkeep and repairs for the City.

Assisting in the performance of semi-skilled and skilled work as needed.

Works with hand tools necessary to fill graves, spray weeds, mow grass, irrigate parks and cemetery.

Operate weed cutters, riding mowers, dump truck and pickup truck as needed.

Run hand power equipment including power mowers, compactors and chain saws.

Paint miscellaneous equipment used in the operation of the department.

Flag traffic as needed.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and general public.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge and skill in the safe work practices in the operation of light equipment, power tools and in safe methods of performing maintenance and construction work.

Perform moderate/heavy physical work.

Possess hand/eye/foot coordination to operate equipment.

Talk and hear in person and by radio.

Ability to see and read instructions, prepare reports and make repairs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.

Six months of general labor experience preferred.

Experience with labor hand tools.

Experience with power tools a plus.

Experience with driving a dump truck or other large motor vehicles a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possess a valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (Class B with tanker validation) or able to obtain license within first six months of employment.  Will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
