About the Delta Police Department

The Delta Police Department currently employs a staff of twenty-nine individuals, who often work in a variety of unique ways. We are tasked with providing public safety for almost 9,000 citizens, while patrolling sixty-seven miles of streets in over a fourteen square mile radius.

The Delta Police Department works twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. At any time, there are a minimum of two police officers on duty, a detective either working or on call and command staff either working or on call. We are the only law enforcement agency in Delta County that is on duty twenty-four hours a day, with no exception.

The Delta Police Department has twenty-three Colorado POST certified law enforcement officers and six support staff; one assigned to animal control / code enforcement, four office support staff including, records, evidence, public information officer, community policing coordinator, and victim advocate. Each person also has other duties assigned by the command staff as needed.
