Chief Fedler

I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit the Delta Police Department’s website. I hope you find it easy to navigate and beneficial to the questions you may have. Please take a few minutes to learn about our police department, the services we have in place and the great staff that makes every day of public safety to all of us possible.

As a Law Enforcement Officer in the Delta area, I have dedicated over 23 years of my life to the public safety of those living in Delta and others just passing through. Delta is not only where I work, it’s where I have lived my entire life and am proud to call home. I take every opportunity to promote my passion of Delta onto my staff and citizens alike. I am a firm believer that passion, dedication and a smile are all contagious.

I take great pride in ensuring the staff of the Delta Police Department is well trained, dedicated and compassionate to those we serve. The Delta Police Department has a strong philosophy to build partnerships and collaborate with the community. We are active in our schools, organizations and events and understand the importance of just being seen and available for a quick question.

Chief Fedler Bio

Chief Lucas (Luke) Fedler began his career in the fall of 2000 with the Delta Police Department. During that time, Chief Fedler worked as a patrol officer and detective. In 2007, Chief Fedler accepted a job with the Delta County Sheriff’s Office where he worked as a patrol deputy, detective and detective sergeant. Chief Fedler then returned to the Delta Police Department as the Chief of Police in January 2017. Chief Fedler has worked many facets of law enforcement including patrol officer, bicycle patrol, field training officer, less lethal instructor, firearms instructor, detective, detective sergeant and most recently, Chief of Police.

Chief Fedler received a Colorado Basic Peace Officer Certification from the Delta-Montrose Area Vocational Technical Center in 2000. As an adult learner, Chief Fedler received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Management from Colorado State University – Global Campus. Chief Fedler has extensive training throughout the Western United States in several areas of law enforcement and has received numerous awards and commendations for his dedication to his career and the profession.

Chief Fedler was born and raised in the Delta area and has lived in the area his entire life. He is very active in the community and is the president of the Western Colorado Peace Officer's Association, on the Board of Directors for the 7th Judicial District Community Corrections Board and Drug Free Delta County, member of the Delta Elks Lodge and the Chair of the Law Enforcement Advisory Board for the Technical College of the Rockies Law Enforcement Academy.
